People checking out a new church often want to know what it believes and what is likely to be preached on Sunday. There are a couple ways to answer that: with a general description of our approach and a theological statement about our beliefs.

First, the general description:

As a non-denominational Christian church we take our teaching from the Bible. We believe God knew what He was doing when He inspired scripture and shepherded its formation. We don’t try to add to it or take anything away. We’re reminded in
2 Timothy 3:16 that all scripture is useful.

Thematically, the idea that infuses much of our approach is love. God loves us. He loves us so much He died for us. Jesus summed up the commandments by saying we should love God and love others. He also said that extended to loving our enemies.

God-like love is only possible when we allow Him to work through us. We recognize that it is His Holy Spirit that empowers us to know God and serve Him.

Jesus also showed that love is lived out through service, both inside and outside the church. Those acts of service don’t save us (grace does) or earn us special points with God, but they are the fruit of a vital faith. And so we try to step out in faith through love and service.

Another way to show our love for God is to worship Him and learn more about Him. So, we encourage everyone to be part of a study group in addition to worshipping on Sunday morning.

We could go on some more, but hopefully you’re getting the idea we’re pretty straightforward and trying to do the best we can to be like Christ. We like to have fun and try to treat each other like family (though not the dysfunctional kind).
